Prompt: "His dead brother contacts him through dreams claiming the afterlife is just another dimension."
Author's Note: Can also be alternatively called "Hello from the other siiiiide~" lol. Written for a Caucus Race/timed challenge during Round 2 of EIWAU. Due to the elimination of Team Suho, I jumped back to my usual team, Team Xiumin (and thus, Chanyeol and D.O). This was kind of a eulogy for Team Suho, who drowned in the storyline of EIWAU.
When writing this, along with the Wonderland theme of the event, I was originally playing with this image from the MAMA MV, the parallel scenes of Suho and Xiumin hitting the barrier in the two Overdose MVs, and the feeling of Suho's Pathcode teaser, but an anon brought up that it could connect to Love Me Right too. Tbh, I have no idea which part of LMR would be applicable here, maybe one of the many scenes where Suho is sitting alone? Haha. But honestly, I've always loved the way Suho and Xiumin have been connected in Exo's concepts, and it's made even better by the fact they're my top two favorites lol.
I think the line that sticks with me the most is D.O calling it a funeral. It's the only indication that as far as he and Chanyeol know, Suho is dead lol. Also "the two of them" can either be D.O and Xiumin, who are physically there, or Suho and Xiumin, who are the main focus of this drabble. Fun. Also, the original title was meant to be "Follow me into Wonderland" but as I was reposting this, "The Land of Lost Things" felt more apt considering Suho's situation.

Kyungsoo is the one who finds him standing in front of the mirror, splashing water on his face. His cheeks are slightly red from where he had slapped them in an attempt to wake himself up faster.
"Junmyeon hyung again?" Kyungsoo asks, frowning.
Minseok closes his eyes and nods. It's no surprise who he dreams about -- Junmyeon shows himself almost every other night, beckoning him. Follow me into wonderland, he silently mouths from the other side of a mirror. But no matter how hard Minseok pounds the looking glass in his dreams, he can never quite break through. Junmyeon looks at him with the same expression of disappointment night after night.
The water is still running from the faucet, but it's not loud enough to stop the pounding in Minseok's ears or to block out the lingering echo of Junmyeon's voice. As he reaches over to turn it off, Minseok opens his eyes and for the briefest of moments, it's not his reflection in the mirror he sees, or even Kyungsoo's.
Junmyeon smiles at him, dripping wet and eyes red. Instead of the bathroom Minseok and Kyungsoo are in, he looks to be in a room of oversized furniture, of checkered patterns and bright red hearts. But just as quickly, he vanishes, and all Minseok can see is himself, eyes wide and miserable.
"Hey, are we having a party in here?" he hears Chanyeol ask as the other squeezes past Kyungsoo to join them in the room.
"A funeral, maybe," Kyungsoo mutters, not intending to hurt, but doing so all the same.
Chanyeol's expression falters. He never likes hearing about Junmyeon, is the one most willing to go to any lengths to distract Minseok from his dreams, his memories. He and Junmyeon had gotten along well enough, once upon a time when Junmyeon existed beyond the boundaries of Minseok's mind. It's a pity.
"Oh, I see." Minseok watches Chanyeol's reflection look away, folding into himself. No matter how hard he tries though, he'll always be a giant compared to the two of them. "What did hyung come to tell you this time?" He doesn't actually sound like he wants to know, but Minseok appreciates the effort.
"He wanted me to follow him," Minseok whispers, staring into his reflection. He doesn't say he would have if he could.
